Community Life

At Covenant Academy, we believe that we are stronger together. Every school year, we commence the first day of school with our First Chapel, which is a symbolic reminder of our partnership in pursuing knowledge and wisdom together. Our objective is to raise another generation of disciples of Christ, and to achieve that, parents and teachers work together in harmony. We rely on each other, support each other, and help each other grow, just as iron sharpens iron. During First Chapel, our entire school, including parents, teachers, and students, recites the following passage from Proverbs Chapter 2.

“My child, receive my words And treasure my commandments within you, Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding; For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding;”

“If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the Lord And discover the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

The Student's Reply With:

”He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones.”

The words written by Solomon many years ago serve as a reminder that the process of gaining wisdom is an active, communal, and inter-generational one. We are stronger when we learn together and are fortunate to be a part of the Covenant Academy community.

A Unified Approach to Technology and Student Development

There are several companies where parents, grandparents, and friends can easily give back to the school by utilizing their donation programs. Many of these programs have paid schools tens of thousands of dollars annually for participating. Please review how you can earn extra “Cash for Covenant.”

The Challenge of the Digital Age

Since the advent of the iPhone in 2007, we’ve seen a concerning rise in anxiety, depression, and attention difficulties among children – a trend that has now reached alarming levels. Many families choose Covenant Academy for its low-tech environment, where phone use during school hours is strictly regulated. This policy has effectively shielded our students from daytime distractions, but the need for further protective measures is becoming increasingly evident.

Introducing Smartphone Stairsteps

In August 2023, we launched the Smartphone Stairsteps program, a thoughtful, four-phase approach to introduce and manage smartphone usage among our students. This initiative is designed to guide students in developing wise digital habits over the years.

Our Collective Commitment

We place great importance on fostering a strong partnership between our students’ homes and our school. In light of this, we kindly request the following:

  • For Grammar Students| Grammar students may not have smartphones. The rationale behind this request is straightforward: it is not deemed necessary and may not be in the best interests of our grammar school students at this phase of their education.
  • A Community Covenant| We ask everyone to commit to these stairsteps. Together, we can nurture a generation of whole, healthy, and focused young individuals.

By joining forces in this covenant, we strive to create a nurturing environment that balances technological advancements with our students’ well-being and holistic development.

Our Dress Code Philosophy

In a culture where personal expression is exalted, beauty is held in question, and the good of our neighbor is subordinated to the desires of the individual, it is the desire of Covenant Academy to glorify God in both the character and culture of the school. As ambassadors for Christ to each other and to a watching world, the following principles should guide our choice of attire:

  • Our actions and our attire should point to the Lord that we serve.
  • Our actions and our attire should portray a heart of both modesty and humility.
  • Our actions and our attire should not seek to exalt the outward beauty of the individual student but rather seek to invest in and care for that portion of the Body of Christ that finds itself at Covenant Academy.
  • Our actions and our attire should support the efforts of the orderly operation of the school.
